In photos: A Winter Bike Ride in Vondelpark
“A sick thought can devour the body's flesh more than fever or consumption.” - Guy de Maupassant.
I'm a terrible patient. I find it impossible to place a proper value on good health because I can't help but take it for granted no matter how many times I tell myself in those days when a headache, a fever or a flu dissipates, not to do so.
Last week, as soon as I was feeling just the smallest bit better better after a strange few days of sore throat, head cold and lethargic energy, we got on our bikes and cycled around Vondelpark, my favourite green space in Amsterdam.
The skies were blue, I spotted snowdrops growing at the feet of skeletal trees, NewMan had a new camera to play with and I didn't have to blow my nose once. I also rejoiced that a couple of the green parakeets that squawk all over this city stayed still long enough for me to take a photo. It was a good day.
