Best Kept Secret: Terrasse des Épices in Marrakech
One of these days I will write about my love-hate relationship with the Medina in Marrakech. But today is not that day.
Today is a day for sharing a rooftop restaurant that you should visit when in Marrakech, Terrasse des Épices.
Go there for sunset.
Go there for tagine. (Their lamb makfoul is really good!)
Go there to look down at the rooftops of the Medina.
Go there to relax, lie back on the cushions and take your time.
Go there for the chocolate pastilla (a pastry pie, which is normally savoury and served with pigeon!!).
Go there to enjoy a chilled out meal in an otherwise hectic part of the world.
(Oh, but don't go there to drink alcohol; they don't serve it. This is also true of many restaurants in the Medina - it's illegal to serve alcohol within "sight" or 150m of a mosque - so be sure to check if a restaurant you're interested does serve alcohol, if that's what you want.)
You can read more stories from our stay in Marrakech last year or you can read a review of the amazing hotel we stayed in this time, The Selman, here. Easily one of my top 5 favourite luxury hotels. Now that's a list I should work harder on updating...
