MusicMonday: Vanessa by Grimes
I've shocked myself by picking another new artist for this week's #MusicMonday. If you've ever been unfortunate enough to be in my company and within five metres of a dance floor in a dubiously shady nightspot you'll know that I'm the first person to beg the poor unsuspecting DJ for "old school 70s disco" or or I'll just be upfront and (drunkenly) honest in demanding some Barry White with a stamp of my foot. Hence why picking a new artist who is only just starting to receive some international attention and acclaim for the second week in a row is a surprise.
Grimes is an Canadian singer-songwriter who has all the mysteriously dark allure of Sinead O'Connor (without the blasphemy), the eye catching uniqueness of Florence (with or without her Machine) and the impossibly high pitched oddities of Kate Bush. And yet she is still good. Really good and different. I love when different means good and NewMan is hooked too thanks to her reliance on a range of synthesizers. So please enjoy...Last week's Instagrams are from our continuing French adventures (still homeless, still hot, still happy!) and from Barcelona where we spent a few days.
