Wednesday's Words
I have been thinking a lot about how sometimes the simplest of words can bring comfort, reassurance, encouragement and inspiration. As you know from my previous blog post titles , I am a fan of song lyrics. My short and sweet book reviews will also tell you that I love reading and thanks to the genius of a Kindle, I often highlight phrases, sentences or a few short words that I find some special meaning in.
Wednesday's words will combine these words with a photograph from my travels and if appropriate, as it is today, I'll also share a little story too. I'll also be posting these photos on Facebook so play along there if you'd like.
I'm a little embarrassed that the first isn't some great profound, mind. Instead it's a British pop star, but it was listening to her sing this lyric as I ran around Vondelpark in Amsterdam the other day that inspired me to start this so I have to give credit where it's due.
Thanks Ellie Goulding.
During the five months NewMan and I spent on the road, I lost two T-shirts, one dress, one pair of shorts, two pairs of knickers, one bra (!) and my favourite animal print satin dressing gown (don't judge). I have some idea where some of these items ended up (Thai street laundrettes, hotel rooms, campsite bathrooms) but for some of them I am clueless and I really miss that dressing gown.
But what did I gain? A huge pot of memories and some beautiful moments like finding small pieces of light and eye-catching metallic composites on a beach on the west coast of New Zealand's South Island. No matter how many things you lose in life, you will always gain more in experience.
