MusicMonday: Take On Me by A-ha

Today's #MusicMonday will be one you can all sing along with. If you don't, well there's possibly something wrong with you.

I've chosen it for three reasons.

Firstly, it reminds me of my Dad and seeing as yesterday was Father's Day and I was sadly unable to give him a hug in person I thought choosing a song that reminds me of him would be apt. One of my earliest memories is of this music video. My Dad recorded the music video for this song onto VHS and used to play it for me. Then stop, rewind and play it again. And again, and again until I'd learnt how to work the video machine myself (I was a slow learner). It was number one in the year I was born and it represents one of the many, many things that my Dad has taught me over the years: to appreciate good music and take it with you or seek it out wherever you go.

Secondly, I've been thinking a lot about relationships recently. Not just romantic but all relationships, and no matter which way you look at it there's a certain amount of "taking somebody on". Nobody comes without their flaws; that's what makes us human. When I was single I used to listen to this song (can you tell that I really like this song?) and look forward to the day that somebody "took me on" in a romantic way. NewMan does a pretty good job of that...  and so do all of my friends and family in other parts of my life.

Thirdly, this song has one of my favourite lyrics: "Slowly learning that life is ok". I just think that's nice and something we all need to learn at some point.I snapped a lot of Instagrams this week; I want to capture as much of Amsterdam as I can before our time is up. Hover over the pins to find out what some of them are all about. I've also been trying to capture more colour on my photo feed, because, well, colour really does make me happy. I think next week I'll also try to capture more of Amsterdam up close and colourful. My Instagram name is " bushbirdie " if you'd like to follow along during the week.

P.S Today's going to be a good day and this week is going to be a good week. Just thought you'd like to know.
