MusicMonday: Golden by Jill Scott

Jill Scott is more than just one of my favourite musicians. She's seen me through more break ups, more life changes and dark moments than I can thankfully now recall. She is my musical hug back to a stronger place.

So what's up Birdie? Why you picking Jill today? Well, last week wasn't the best for me. It was a string of good-bad-good-bad days and it reminded me that we all have bad days and so someone somewhere may need to hear this song today, a song which always boosts my mood, perspective and soul.

It's hard to advise someone who's having a "bad day" or maybe a string of bad days but as Jill says in another song "put your good foot down and make your soul a winner..." and that's a good start. That's what I'm going to do with this new week with a little bit of help from my friends and NewMan.

We all have bad days. Even those of us lucky to travel full-time or live in a new, exciting country. Life just doesn't deliver good day after good day, though this last year has taught me that there are many things you can do to reduce the number and instances of the bad days, but that's a whole other blog post.

If you're having a bad day I urge to find your Jill Scott, listen to her/him and let a little self-love seep in again.

And always, as a general rule, live your life like it's golden.

Today it's Queen's Day in Amsterdam so I'll be living my life like it's golden and orange! The orange has been sinking in already see these Instagrams of my second week in Amsterdam as evidence. I'm "bushbirdie" on Instagram if you want to follow my orange adventures...
