MusicMonday: If I Had A Boat by James Vincent McMorrow
Today's #MusicMonday song is soppy, there are Mumford-esque harmonies and beating drums throughout, and it's only too easy to imagine it being the last song played at a barn dance while couples in clashing plaid shirts knock cowboy boots together; it's the RKelly of folk music if you like.
But I bloody love it. And I hope you do.
(P.S. James Vincent McMorrow's whole album is also well worth a listen - an incredibly accomplished debut in my small opinion.) It was another week of writing, working, writing, wakeboarding and more working and writing. NaNoWriMo progresses despite me (34413 words and counting). Some days the words appear in their hundreds, even thousands and I am left sore in the hand and clueless at where they came from, but other days I have to lift up every mental stone weighing down my brain to find just a handful. Searching for inspiration has led me to stare blankly ahead outside at the trees that surround our little corner of paradise. It's for this reason that these trees, their shadows and their reflections have a staring role in this week's Instagrams. You can follow me here, can't you?
Have a happy, happy week! I'm off to hunt for words under the plam trees...
