In my beautiful neighbourhood
It was the night before Queen's Day and all through the streets there was a happy buzz of people who knew there was no work or school tomorrow.
Intrigued, I went for a walk around my new local neighbourhood in Amsterdam's Old West. I took my camera with me and was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find flashes of Dutch patriotism all around me; tulips, bikes, bunting and of course, many pops of orange. Lots of orange, even in truly unexpected places like a half eaten satsuma left on a table outside a shop...
Not to be out done by the locals I made my own Queen's Day orange bunting for our flat. What do you think?
