NaNoWriMo Inspiration (Day 19): 30 Things I'm Going To Do When NaNoWriMo Is Over

I can't see the finish line, but apparently it's coming.

I already know my first draft won't be finished on 30th November, but I'm going to take a break anyway.

I know it's going to be cold, wet and dark in December, but I'm going to create some colour of my own.

I hope you know that writing your own version of this list will help you then write more words.

These are the things I'm going to do when NaNoWriMo is all over:

1. Sleep in. Til ten o'clock, or maybe eleven. Man, I feel so naughty even writing those words.

2. Eat breakfast in bed, with a book in my hand - one I am reading not writing.

3. Go for a walk with my camera. I think he's actually gathering dust, INSIDE the bag he lives in.

4. Write some blog posts that aren't about writing.

5. Go away with NewMan for a night and stay in a fancy hotel we can't afford.

6. Eat all of the breakfast on offer at aforementioned fancy hotel.

7. Go for a run and try not to sweat about word counts while I'm sweating through the miles.

8. Play backgammon with NewMan.

9. Play foosball with NewMan.

10. Drink tea and eat cake with my neighbours.

11. Learn ten new Dutch words every day in December.

12. CLEAN THE HOUSE. While listening to Barry White, because nobody helps me clean quicker. Not even Mr Muscle.

13. WASH ALL THE CLOTHES that I've hidden in a pile at the bottom of my wardrobe in an attempt to stop the washing basket from looking like it's overflowing.

14. Watch at least one old movie. Maybe a Philip Marlowe film as I'm STILL finding reading Raymond Chandler is really helping me write this month.

15. Go to the Vivian Maier exhibition at FOAM.

16. Cycle to Haarlem and hang out there for the day.

17. Listen to every episode of Serial again.

18. Spend €30 on vintage clothes at Noordermarkt flea market.

19. Bake banana bread.

20. Spend too long online trying to find some cool artwork for two big picture frames we bought a while ago but they're still sitting in a cupboard empty.

21. Eat a broodje pom. It's been a while since I had one on this eating tour.

22. Look for some new snowboarding boots. Only one month until we hit the slopes for the first time this season!

23. Make my own wrapping paper for Christmas gifts (maybe with some potatoes, a bit like this).

24. Reply to some comments on the blog that I've neglected. I hate that.

25. Have a bit of a clothes clearout. I'm not going to use the words "capsule wardrobe" but I have noticed too many things I'm no longer wearing are ready for new owners.

26. Have a go at making some Vietnamese food at home. I always crave Vietnamese (it's the coriander, I love the stuff) and Amsterdam isn't really full of options (I do NOT count loempias!) so it's about time I tried to satisfy my own craving rather than relying on others.

27. Send out a newsletter to you lovely lot with a few virtual Christmas gifts.

28. Write a list of ten other books I want to write, because I am not a one-book-woman.

29. Not look at my unfinished, patchy, disorganised 50,000 (!) words of "utter tripe" for at least two weeks, possibly three.

30. Smile. Because I did it. I wrote 50,000 words in the month of November.

How I cannot wait to say those last eight words to myself... Maybe we'll say it to each other?

Now back to writing. For both of us...
