Out of Office: I'm on holiday. A "proper" holiday.

Hey friends... I'm not in right now. I'm on holiday. A real holiday. In Thailand. Yes, I just squealed.

I thought about scheduling a bundle of posts for you to read while I was away, but truth be told, I didn't have the right kind of energy to write speedily enough while keeping what I wanted to say interesting and truly worth reading. It's fair to say I really need this holiday. As the Bird flies is a very important part of my work (and life!) and I want to keep producing content that helps, entertains, inspires and tickles a smile or two out of you and unfortunately in recent months I've been fearing a burnout that will stop me doing this. I want to make absolutely sure I avoid this. So, I've decided to take a bit of a break from the blog as well as from work and from emails so I can relax, refresh and come back ready to make this place better than ever. But I'll still be writing my stories; that's too much fun not to do on holiday.

Posting on here will resume on Monday 10th March 2014, but in the meantime I may well pop up on  TwitterFacebook or  Instagram to share some photos of sunsets and beautiful Thai beach scenes.

If you'd like something to read while I'm away, I picked out a few of my favourite recent posts that you can read...

There's Chapter One, Chapter Two and Chapter Three of my dog-mushing adventures.
Here are some short and sweet reviews of the books I read in January.
Some  photos of us cycling from Bruges to Zeebrugge in Belgium.
I wrote a  poem about snowshoeing in Norway.
And have you had a look at these  free resources for better blogging yet?

And a few of my favourite all-time posts, if you'd like to read one of these.

Read all about the history of cycling in the Netherlands and Amsterdam.
Sticking with cycling, here are some photos from a sunset  bike ride in Porto last November.
Or you can read the stories behind the stories in my book, Shy Feet.
A Kayaking Photo Story... that maybe I'll recreate while I'm back in Thailand again.
And staying in the Land of Smiles here are  some pretty photos from Thailand's Andaman Coast

Alternatively you can read one of my books or you can read one of my latest pieces for Travelettes about what I love and hate about travelling with a boyfriend, why a husky dog handler is the coolest internship in the world (but not for the faint-hearted) and you can read about the best hotel breakfast I've ever had.

Have a great few weeks, I'll see you soon!
