Down in the Valley...

I suppose it was a sealed deal before I even got there, what with the promises of wine, rolling hills of vineyards and chocolate and cheese shops, but I really did like the Hunter Valley.

In many ways the Hunter Valley reminded me of the south of France, just better organised and not as old. I mean that as a compliment to both France and Australia. It's funny that my memories haven't been tainted by the deafening and distracting cicadas. Never before have I heard so many cicadas. I swear there were millions in a single tree which stood opposite our hotel room, though a King Parrot tried his best to get rid of a few (see below...).

The photos are going to tell the story today. They take me back to a beautiful warm sunny few days where just for a few days wine and cheese topped our agenda. It was one of my favourite destinations in our Australian road trip. Enjoy...
